White wines for the summer from Familia Martínez Bujanda

Something that satisfies us at Familia Martínez Bujanda is that we have an extensive portfolio of wines that enables us to offer to our customers different options for every occasion and every season. In Spain, wine consumption continues to be very seasonal and when the summer arrives, the demand for white wines increases considerably, whilst in other countries it is distributed more regularly throughout the year.

Spain is a warm country so, nobody can deny that when the summer arrives, we fancy chilled wines. This is why we are going to take the liberty of using this space to offer you some ‘house’ recommendations.

  1. Finca Montepedroso: is our wine from the Rueda region, a winery/a wine, which is the product of our aspiration to produce one of the best verdejo varietals in the region, with authenticity and without embellishment. In this respect, Finca Montepedroso stands out from the lighter whites which lack consistency but can also be found with the same generic seal of the Rueda denomination of origin. When it comes to pairing, Finca Montepedroso also offers more alternatives, since it matches with all of the dishes enjoyed at a summer meal, including white meats, and not only fish and seafood. A verdejo wine which displays the maximum expressiveness of this grape.
  2. Viña Bujanda and Finca Antigua Viura: in both cases, the viura grape is the main feature. This grape variety has been unfairly underrated due to its limited aromatic capacity. However, it offers a consistency in the mouth that few white grapes can equal and, even without wood ageing, it demonstrates an exceptional ageing capacity. The key lies in the age of the vineyard and the control of yields. If by chance, you have access to a bottle of Viña Bujanda or Finca Antigua Viura that is not from last year, open it and you will see what we are talking about.
  3. Finca Antigua Naturalmente Dulce (Naturally Sweet Moscatel). On several ocasions we have talked about this wine made from naturally dried fruit using the sun-drying technique. A real treat of a sweet wine () which, nicely chilled, is like eating bunches of moscatel grapes and is ideal for pairing with aperitifs and desserts at this time of year.
  4. Infinitus Moscatel. It combines the freshness of natural carbonic gas with the sweetness of the moscatel. It goes extremely well with Chinese, Indian or Japanese food, either on its own or mixed with Sprite or a chilled lemon soda. It is perfect as an evening or even after-dinner drink.
